The regional sanitation services provider purchased four e18L RIZON Class 4-5 zero-emission trucks, made possible through a grant from the San Diego County Air Pollution Control District.
SAN MARCOS, Calif. (December 16, 2024) — Diamond Environmental Services, a regional supplier of portable sanitary facilities, hosted an electric truck showcase event December 12 at its San Marcos dispatch facility. The event featured the company’s four new Class 4-5 medium-duty, battery-electric RIZON trucks, engineered by Daimler Truck and funded through the Short-Haul Zero-Emission Truck Pilot Project (ZE Pilot Project) administered by the San Diego County Air Pollution Control District.
San Marcos city officials, including Mayor Rebecca Jones; Hunter McDonald, Land Use Policy Advisor from the San Diego County Supervisor’s Office; City Council Member Ed Musgrove; Tess Sangster, San Marcos Community & Economic Development Director; and Travis Arciaga, San Diego County Air Pollution Control District, attended the event along with Diamond Environmental and RIZON USA staff to support this significant step towards local sustainability efforts.
Attendees participated in a ride and drive with Diamond Environmental drivers to experience RIZON trucks' advanced technology, unmatched safety features, and ergonomic driver comfort features. The interaction allowed them to get behind the wheel of an all-electric, medium-duty commercial vehicle to see the touchscreen navigation, steer a tight turning radius ideal for city driving, and feel the ergonomically designed seating for optimal driver comfort.
“RIZON trucks are perfect for our daily local operations and align with our environmental and sustainability goals. Thanks to San Diego County's incentive programs, we could economically make the transition to electromobility,” said Alex Fortunati, CEO of Diamond Environmental. "Our drivers have given positive feedback, praising RIZON trucks' comfort and safety features, as well as a quiet, emission-free ride. They particularly appreciate torque and collision avoidance features for stop-and-go city driving."
Diamond Environmental selected the cabover stakebed/flatbed style for two of their trucks in service for its four e18L RIZON models, providing versatility for transporting portable toilet facilities, sinks, and other sanitary supplies. Fast charging options, including DCFC up to 104 kW and Level 2 AC up to 14.9 kW, minimize downtime for the company’s daily delivery routes, achieving a range of up to 160 miles on a single charge.
Diamond Environmental is the number one leader in the Southern California market for the portable restroom rental & service industry for all onsite construction needs, as well as outdoor festivals, including the Super Bowl in San Diego and Coachella Music Festival. The newly acquired RIZON trucks support the company’s zero-emission operations for delivery and pick-up of essential services for customers in the region.
Commercial electric vehicles are increasingly becoming more accessible for California businesses, like Diamond Environmental, through direct purchase or leasing programs offered by RIZON USA, the exclusive distributor of RIZON trucks, and its certified EV-dealer network, including Velocity Truck Leasing & Rental.
